When Lois was a teenager, her family came from their home in Bancroft, Idaho to stay in Bountiful so she and her siblings could go to school. Lois and Oz hung out with the same group of friends and eventually they started to date. In 1934 when Lois was 25 and Oz was 27, they were married. They made their home in Bountiful. Three years later, their daughter, Lois JoAnn, or 'JoAnn' was born. She was a beautiful child who inherited both of her parents good looks and talents.Each member of this family had some health struggles. Oz struggled with addictions. Lois struggled with mental illness and Parkinson's disease. JoAnn was born with a bone disease and foot problems that required many surgeries. The stress took its toll on the marriage and after seven years, Lois and Oz were divorced.

Oz was married several more times. Eventually his addictions destroyed his health and Oz passed away in 1968.

Lois raised JoAnn with the help of extended family. JoAnn grew up to be an accomplished musician. She married Hal Curtis in 1956 and together they had five children. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother. She passed away in 1974.
